Relief from the grey gloom

I love banksia trees in all their variety. Our locally indigenous Banksia integrifolia is my absolute favourite, but these 'Giant candle' banksias growing in the Bend are spectacular at this tme of year. Each bushy tree is covered in these tall bronzey gold spikes and the birds are having a ball. There are 173 species of this wonderful plant named after Sir Joseph Banks.
